Tomato basil cream pasta is a delicious and comforting dish that combines the richness of cream with the freshness of tomatoes and the aromatic flavor of basil. Here’s a simple recipe to make this flavorful pasta dish:

Ingredients:

  • 8 oz (225g) pasta of your choice (such as fettuccine, penne, or spaghetti)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 can (14.5 oz / 400g) diced tomatoes
  • 1 cup (240ml) heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup (about 15g) fresh basil leaves, chopped
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Grated Parmesan cheese for serving (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Cook the pasta according to the package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside, reserving about 1/2 cup of pasta water.
  2. In a large skillet or saucepan, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
  3. Stir in the diced tomatoes (with their juices) and bring to a simmer. Let it cook for about 5-7 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld and the sauce to slightly thicken.
  4. Reduce the heat to low and pour in the heavy cream, stirring until well combined. Simmer gently for another 3-5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  5. Add the chopped basil leaves to the sauce, reserving some for garnish if desired. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  6. Add the cooked pasta to the sauce and toss until the pasta is evenly coated. If the sauce is too thick, you can add some of the reserved pasta water to loosen it up.
  7. Serve the tomato basil cream pasta hot, garnished with additional chopped basil leaves and grated Parmesan cheese if desired. Enjoy!

This creamy and flavorful pasta dish is perfect for a cozy dinner at home and is sure to please your taste buds with its combination of fresh ingredients and rich sauce.
